Human Resources Development
The Sumitomo Forestry Group strives to develop human resources by conducting training for internal auditors, including Group employees. In fiscal 2021, the Quality Control and Worker Safety Management Department started ISO 45001 internal auditor training courses, and in fiscal 2024, 56 employees (52 in the internal auditor qualification course and 4 in the standard explanation course) completed the courses. A course on "Occupational Health, Safety, and Quality " was established in e-learning through the Company website. In addition, the Quality Control and Worker Safety Management Department lends out DVD materials on occupational health and safety for use in employee education and safety conferences, including those at Group companies. We will continue to strengthen our safety system, by providing guidance and advice to the entire Group.

Safety Education
Domestic Manufacturing Business
We conduct safety training when employees are assigned to a plant to enhance their awareness of safety by teaching them on the purpose of wearing protective equipment and the rules for safe work. In particular, when working with high-risk equipment, such as forklifts, circular saws and other cutting tools, and roll spreaders and other rotating parts, we provide external instructor training and safety simulation training to raise awareness of risks involved in work.
We began providing ongoing safety training for employees in fiscal 2024 to reinforce workplace safety. We work to raise employees' awareness of compliance by communicating safety policies and goals and discussing rules that are not being followed.

Overseas Manufacturing Business
In our overseas manufacturing companies, we are promoting a culture of respect for human life and safety-first manufacturing sites under the fundamental policy of "safety takes precedence over all else." In fiscal 2024, key focus areas included the elimination of accidents involving rotating machinery (such as rollers and blades) and the reinforcement and thorough implementation of fire prevention procedures.
Construction Sites
Training Designed to Improve Awareness for Occupational Health and Safety
We provide safety and health training with concrete examples for safety and health managers, construction site safety and health supervisors (contractors), and personnel in various occupations. Special education (Article 59, Paragraph 3 of the Industrial Safety and Health Act) is provided for securing safety of work using the fall prevention equipment (full harness safety belts) as well as during use of circular saws, grinders* and other electric tools which are susceptible to accidents due to misuse despite being simple and easy to use.
To improve the abilities of foremen and occupational health and safety managers, training was held 75 times in fiscal 2024 and 17 times in fiscal 2023 (attended by a total of 2,781 people) for the foremen of cooperative building contractors as a countermeasure against serious injuries.

Special Circular Saw Education

Full Harness Special Training
In fiscal 2024, we distributed online videos for occupational health and safety education as a countermeasure against heatstroke and to support foreign workers. We previously lent out DVDs for safety and health education, but there were fewer viewers. Users can now easily view the program on their own PCs, smartphones, tablets, etc. from a URL and a 2D barcode.

Elderly Care Business
In-Company Training
Human assets are an important element for maintaining and improving quality of nursing care services. Sumirin Fill Care and Sumirin Care Life systematically conduct a variety of training programs for developing human resources development. For example, the practical training of "body mechanics", aims at participants to learn nursing technology to perform assistance with minimum force by utilizing dynamic relationships when human joints, muscles, and bones move. It effectively reduces the burden on caregivers and helps prevent back pain.
We are also engaged in "anger management training" for all employees of the care facilities. Anger management is psychological training for managing and dealing with anger. Controlling anger can reduce work stress and improve communication with residents and users.
